My work celebrates scientific insights into the hidden patterns and features of the natural world while questioning the technical and methodological artifice that brings them to our perception.  The challenge is to bring a sense of joy and wonder into a scientifically informed view of the world.  Using acrylic gel as a primary sculptural medium poses challenges but enables me to create multiples that can be turned into large scale sculptural pieces. These are often translucent or intensely coloured to reflect the heightened reality of images produced by techniques such as electron microscopy or x ray crystallography.
